A football stadium of latin american spirit…
guys guys guys, I’m still pretty excited, having experienced a very rare event in Paraguayan nightlife, a concert of the Mexican band Maná, filling the “Estadio Defensores del Chaco” with thousands of enthusiastic young, younger and older people, screaming every tiny little word of every song, from the very beginning to the last breath. It was awesome, amazing, unique! I’m still pretty mad at the person who told me that photo cameras would be forbidden, so I didn’t bring mine, while everyone else did. Crap! This was the first time in 13 years that Maná came to Paraguay and people were damn excited about it. There were people who came from Ciudad del Este (near the Brazilian boarder) to Asuncion, only to be a part of the event. They paid 40.000 Guaraníes, some paid 60.000 (someone I know makes a 600.000 a months, so those are huge sums), some even 120.000 (guess those were the few rich guys ;). The peak was hit when lead singer Fernando Olvera, screamed out “Rohayhu Paraguay” (= “I love you Paraguay”) and swayed a combined Paraguayan-Mexican flag. People were getting nuts!
So guys the résumé pretty much is the following: If you ever travel Southamerica, don’t miss experiencing a huge concert!!!

After reading this, I immediately checked out Maná on YouTube. I think the band is pretty cool! Especially the guitar work and this Latino spirit in some songs. I’m gonna try to learn “Bendita Tu Luz” myself (was just the first result that popped up and I liked it), which is - great! :-)
See you some time - and God bless you,
Benni
